One of my grad students went to her local public library to work on her Social Networking assignment recently. She sent me an email asking if it were normal for a public library to filter social media platforms. She could not access Twitter from a public library computer. She had to be placed on a "special" computer with a time limit of 30 minutes for her work. She ended up heading to a local Starbucks and working on the assignment instead.
This came as a surprise to me. The public library is now filtering access to Twitter?
Has anyone else had this experience or is it an anomaly?
