Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Finally, I am finding some time to read more than a page or two at a time. This novel, accompanied by cartoons such as the one you can see on the cover, should appeal to reluctant male readers in those in between years: too old for picture books and not ready for YA novels. Greg is a typical kid. He wants to do the right thing, but sometimes his efforts fall a little short of the mark. He gets into trouble and manages to compound the problems by not just fessing up. He is, basically, your run-of-the-mill boy. Despite his shortcomings, Greg is an interesting kid and character.

This is not exactly my domain: intermediate grade fiction. I will be curious to see how this book flies with 3rd and 4th grade boys when it is made available in schools.
