missing in action

So for the past couple of days I have been AWOL from the blog.  NCTE is in Las Vegas and I have spent most of my time walking back and forth to sessions.  Now, I have delivered the keynote for ALAN and I can relax a little  more and tweet and post and blog.  FYI, ALAN has a back channel ( and you can go and read through the discussions.  One of the purposes is to begin talk about developing  new YA canons.  So, join in, please.

I have also been missing time to read.  With a schedule chock full of sessions, there has been almost no time to read the new  books I picked  up at the conference.  I miss that, too.  What has sustained me is the fact that some of my favorite people are here and the snatched conversations have been brilliant if brief.

I will come  home Wednesday energized by these convos.  I will mull them  over and who knows what might pop out?  Some of the most brilliant observations have  been from the authors, especially  here at ALAN where we  have  already heard  from 15 authors this morning.  Go look at the Twitter deed (#alan12) to see what has been shared.

I promise more postings once I return to Texas.  I will also attempt to post here  some of the ALAN  keynote.
