It is just after 3:30 EST and I will leave for the airport to head back to Houston in just a few minutes. But before I forgot, I wanted to post about an interesting item I saw the other day. A new book, BEYOND LITERACY, by Michael Ridley asserts that new technologies will displace reading and writing. Ridley is publishing an interactive eBook where people are invited to comment and discuss his central thesis. I hope to have time to look over the first pages which are already up online. I am hoping that this bold statement is entitled to catch attention and promote debate. What I will say in this abbreviated post is that, while I think literacy will continue to evolve, I do not see reading and writing going the way of the dinosaurs any time soon.
And now, off to the airport. Good Sunday, everyone.
