A IS FOR ALAN

ALAN

Are you a member of ALAN? The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of NCTE is one of the best bargains in the field of adolescent literacy. Membership (the form for joining is here: http://community.alan-ya.org/communities/resources/viewdocument/?DocumentKey=73ec6e55-c059-4491-affa-e4f11b5e1d4e) is $20 a year. That entitles members to copies of THE ALAN REVIEW, a journal which features interviews with authors, reviews of books, and insightful analysis of various aspects of adolescent literacy.

And then there is the workshop. The Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, after the NCTE conference is over, ALAN begins its two day workshop with a host of authors and experts talking about YA books and reading and literacy. This year's speakers include:
