We leave tomorrow and head back home after a week in NY. Today was the 10th annual Literacy Extravaganza at St. Thomas Aquinas College. Hundreds of preservice and inservice teachers, librarians, and administrators came to hear Jan Cheripko, Sara Holbrook, Lesley Madel Morrow and yours truly. It was wonderful to meet new folks who were excited about the possibilities of using authentic literature with kids. Kind of restores hope that, NCLB notwithstanding, books matter. I suspect I will post about some new books shortly after our return as there will be time tomorrow to read on the plane.
On a side note, it is glorious fall here and we have watched the trees turn colors in a matter of days. Beats the two seasons we have in Texas: hot season and rainy season.
