LUMINOUS (Dutton 2011) by Dawn Metcalf explores a world in between worlds known as the Flow. Consuela finds herself in the Flow, a sort of netherworld between the real world and the hereafter. There she meets other pilgrims on a journey of sorts. Each has a role in the Flow; each person is there to help save lives of others. Watcher, V, Tender, Wish, Maddy, Yad: each has a special power that enables her or him to assist those about to lose their lives. Consuela finds her way through the Flow and begins her mission of rescuing the near dead. However, there is something else in the Flow, some evil that is killing the other residents. Who? As Consuela and others try to unravel the mystery, all of their lives are in danger.
