final picture books for now
BEE AND BIRD by Craig Frazier (Roaring Brook 2011) is a marvel. A bee lands on the head of a bird, and off readers go on a wordless adventure as bee and bird travel. Bike, truck, and boat are all modes of transportation that take bird and his passenger safely from one place to another. There is a lovely twist at the end. Bold, large illustrations make this a perfect book for kids who are yearning to be able to "read" a book. <262>
Meet TUMFORD THE TERRIBLE (Feiwel and Friends 2011),by Nancy Tillman. Tumford is cute, but he refuses to apologize when he makes a mess. In lilting rhyme, Tumford (and readers) learn a lesson about being able to say "sorry." <263>
