second time around

I was fortunate to hear Mary Casanova read THE DAY DIRK YELLER CAME TO TOWN (FSG 2011) aloud at the Texas Library Association dinner sponsored by MacMillan. Now, here is the book itself, a wonderful chance to re-read and re-visit this humorous story.

Dirk Yeller comes into town twitchin' and itchin'. He needs help with bayin' coyotes, jumpin' beans, and rattlin' snakes, too. Our young protagonist, Sam, who knows his fair share of trouble, has just the answer for Dirk. Sam takes Dirk to the town library. Art by Ard Hoyt adds to the good fun and the tall tale tellin' goin' on here. Perfect for readin' aloud. <261>
