one final picture book for us all

PRESS HERE by Herve Tullet (Handprint Books 2011) is a marvel. It did not take me any time at all to lose myself in the rather unassuming book that asks readers to "press here" and see what happens. Here I am, a long way from my (first) childhood) pressing yellow dots and then dots of other colors. Press hard to make them multiply and then clap to make them grow. Bow on them to make them move around. I defy anyone to read this book without becoming involved in the action. If anyone can do that, he or she must have lost that child heart and probably does not clap for Tinkerbelle to survive when watching/reading Peter Pan either. Pair this with IT'S A BOOK for its testament to the power of something that does not blink, tweet, or scroll and yet provides lots if interaction. <173>
