history through chores
Here is an interesting way to look at history: WHY DO I HAVE TO MAKE MY BED? by Wade Bradford and Johanna van der Sterre (Tricycle Press 2011) opens with a familiar question from a young boy who sees no point in making a bed he will crawl back into later in the day. In response to this query his mother tells a story about her mother who in turn is telling a story about her mother and so on down through the centuries. What changes, of course, are the chores that have to be completed by the complaining child. <88>
