CRASH INTO ME by Albert Borris (Simon Pulse 2009) is the story of four teens who meet in a chat room for suicides. Owen has attempted to kill himself more than a handful of times. He is a veritable wikipedia of suicide information. He is brought into the chat room by one of his classmates and fellow suicide attempter, Jin-Ae. Together with Frank and Audrey, the four plan a road trip. They will travel across the country visiting the sites and graves of famous suicides and then end their own lives in Death Valley. <80>
Borris creates a suspenseful story here by giving readers (and the characters) incomplete information on each of the major players. We learn only a hint here and there about why each of the four has come to join this road trip. How will it all end, will anyone change her or his mind: these are the questions that remoan through a stunning climax.
