Picture Book Monday Part Dos

SPRING IS HERE by Will Hillenbrand (Holiday House 2011) goes out to all of you freezing in the depths of blizzards right now (when it is in the 50s and 60s outside my window today). Mole wakes up and then tries to rouse Bear now that it is Spring! It is a difficult task to say the least. Mole's ingenious solution is one that kids will appreciate. <61>

PICK A PUP (McElderry 2011) by Marsha Wilson Chall is the tale of Sam who is faced with a tough decision: which pup will he bring home from the shelter to be his very own dog? As he and his grandmother walk through the neighborhood, Will ponders this question. Lively illustrations by Jed Henry accompany the rhyming text. <62>

I MUST HAVE BOBO! is the title and also the recurring cry of our young narrator who is constantly searching for his stuffed sock monkey. Frequently, it is the cat who has absconded with the toy. I MUST HAVE BOBO by Eileen Rosenthal with illustrations by Marc Rosenthal (Atheneum 2011) will be a fun read for any child who has that special attachment to a toy. <63>

Two friends fight and then make up in I LIKE YOU THE BEST by Carol Thompson (Holiday House). Pig and Rabbit love to spend time together, but when they each draw a picture of the other, a disagreement erupts and the two huffily part. Can they solve their differences? Reminiscent of the Piggie and Elephant books by Mo Willems, this book demonstrates how to patch up a friendship. <64>
