dealing with reality

Many of the soldiers returning from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan must deal with traumatic injuries. Loss of limbs, devastating injuries and post traumatic stress disorder can make the return from war difficult for many of our troops. MY DADDY IS INVINCIBLE (4thDivision Press, 2010) by Shannon Maxwell tells, in simple language and illustrations, what happens when "superheroes" (how children often think of their parents) get hurt. The message is clear without being didactic: veteran soldiers join in activities with their families and receive help from teams of medical and other professionals. <18>
