Picture Book Monday

Well, I am back on campus and sorting through books. I pulled some to share with you today before I head home to rest this blasted knee.

TWOSOMES by Marilyn Singer with illustrations by Lee Wildish (Knopf 2011) presents rhymed couplets about animals. Word play and gentle good humor will make this a perfect book to share on Valentine's Day as a read aloud. <443>

I'M NOT by Pam Smallcomb with illustrations by Robert Weinstock (Schwartz and Wade 2011) is about the unlikely friendship between two creatures who are pretty much as different from one another as possible. However, they are best friends because differences do not matter when someone is a true friend. <444>

Pretty Penny wants to find a lovely gift for her grandmother Bunny but she has no money. She decides to sell some of her extra stuff. Together Penny and Bunny set up the Small Mall in the attic. Penny uses the proceeds from the sale to throw a party for her grandmother. PRETTY PENNY SETS UP SHOP by Devon Kinch (Random House 2011) gives readers one cool grandmother and granddaughter who each have a sense of style. <445>
