Did ya miss me yesterday?

Yesterday began well. I headed off to the office for a meeting that I thought began at 10. It does begin at 10 NEXT Wednesday. Oh well, I had a day ahead of me to handle office stuff. I started the walk back to the office (a few buildings away), stepped down a step and my knee popped, literally. I now was stuck partway down a set of steps. It took me 30 minutes to get to the bottom step in that set. So, I knew I had to get help. Called 9-1-1 and took my first ever ride in an ambulance to the ER. Now I have a leg brace and crutches. Diagnosis: nothing broken, bone-wise. More likely a ligament sprain or tear. My better half had to come and drive me home. So, no postings, just some pills for pain and a restless night on the sofa. I have spent today reading and alternately icing and heating my knee. Off the pain stuff until bedtime. With any luck, I will be more mobile tomorrow. Sorry for all the TMI stuff. I have missed 2-3 days this entire year in terms of reading and posting. Thought I owed an explanation.

So, here is what I read today:

ART AND MAX by David Wiesner (Clarion 2010) is one of those picture books the NYT declared dead in an article earlier this week. If this is dead, we have nothing to fear (and we have nothing to fear anyhow, really). Arthur is painting portraits in the desert when Max comes along insisting he is also an artist. What happens next in this mostly textless book is sheer creative juices pouring from the pages. Get a copy. Share it with kids and teens and spouses. It is amazing. <436>
