history in a bus

ROSA'S BUS by Jo Kittlinger and illustrated by Steven Walker (Calkins Creek, October 2010) presents readers with a slightly different slant on the story of Rosa Parks. This time the focus is on the bus and how it came to be a part of the auspicious ride of Ms. Parks. The text, with its almost chilling repetition of the line "that's just the way it was," is effective in letting readers know what transpired. End matter provide more details as well. <314>
