another terrific collection of stories
Tradition is for many of us to take a book (or Kindle) to graduation ceremonies. After our students cross the platform, we can crack open the book and read. Today's selection was a new to paperback story collection from Firebird (thanks, Sharyn!) called TROLL'S EYE VIEW edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling. I have enjoyed their previous collaborative efforts, and this one is fabulous. An evil Cinderella (and a thoroughly chilling story), a stunted troll (with some hysterically funny lines), a variation on Othello (just when you think there is nothing to add to that story): it is all here. What a lovely way to sit and while away a couple of hours. I think this might be one to add to my YA class come the spring. It certainly features a lovely pantheon of authors including Neil Gaiman, Jane Yolen, and Holly Black among others. <306>
And now I am off to meet the resident of the back bedroom and my better half at church. That means tomorrow we can sleep in and decide what to do at our leisure.
