Mother's Day

Had a lovely bruch with the newly weds, the resident of the back bedroom, and my better half today. I wore sunglasses a la Sophia Loren to cover the eye which is still more colorful than the bouquet of flowers from the newlyweds. Now home to rest up for the week ahead. This time next week we will be on a plane to St, Thomas. Ah, so looking forward to the beach and the pool and some time away.

Read this book:

HOW TO GROW UP AND RULE THE WORLD BY VORDAK THE INCOMPREHENSIBLE (Egmont, August 2010). Here is a story, with plenty of illustrations, that is not, as the cover notes, for wimpy kids. However, kids who have read Jeff Kinney and are ready to move on to more snarkiness will appreciate the humor here. Vordak presents all one needs to know to become a ruler of peons. Chapter by chapter directions include: selecting an evil name, building an army of supporting villains, and designing ways to rule the world. Lots of call out boxes, sidebars, charts, etc. make this a perfect read for reluctant readers, too.

Thanks to Jeanne McDermott to sending this one my way.
