TLA dAY THE sECOND

I think it is Friday. This is what happens at conferences. I forget what day of the week it is and have to look at my watch to be certain. We had a lovely dinner last night with Candlewick (thanks Sharon and Jenny) and I got to sit at the table with Marc Aronson. Loved every minute of it. At one point Marc said he had talked too much about himself and his writing. We assured him that he could get away with that at TLA since we asked questions all through the meal (scrumptious) about forthcoming books.

Got up early and headed to breakfast with the folks from MacMillan (Holt) who booktalked and then brought us a special gift: Mary Pearson!!!! We left with ARCs and headed over to the convention center (and I do not mean the royal "we"; I am rooming with pal and liberrian, Lois Buckman). Headed to the booth and worked there from 9-2:30.

Folks I have not seen one session. I have worked the booth instead This must end.

Came back to the hotel now to freshen up for dinner with Random House. No time to read once I cleared tweets, updates, email, and the rest. However, I did read this one yesterday:

SHARK VS. TRAIN by Chris Barton (LBYR, 2010) is the story of who would win in a battle between a shark and a train. The answer? It depends/ Is the battle in water, does it involve opposable thumbs? Funny stuff made even better by Tom Lichtenfield's illustrations.

Now back to preparing for dinner. More to come once I get home, Tomnorrow is my presentation with Rosemary Chance on new books.
