Stay tuned, please
As I sat down to write this posting, the CBS News was discussing the new common standards and how they will save education since everyone will be on the SAME page in English and math no matter where they are students. This is, some say, the salvation, something that will make us rank higher among other nations. Texts will become standardized as will tests. All our problems will be solved. I am going to ignore this for the time begin as it harshes my happiness. I spent a fabulous day with public librarians from San Diego talking about tweens and tween services and tween books. In other words, I spent the day with folks who love kids and love books and are committed to both. Restores my faith.

Tomorrow, this blog will be part of the SHARE A STORY celebration. I will talk about books for tweens, books on classic themes. So, come back then. I plan to blog before I head back to the airport and a day of travel back home.

Here is a shot from the front of my hotel here in Escondido.

What? You're right in my backyard! Hop on over to Carlsbad and I'll buy you a margarita and fish tacos.

Now if we could just get CBS quoting librarians and teachers in the trenches about improving education instead of politicians . . .
