poetry and song
TOO MUCH KISSING AND OTHER SILLY DILLY SONGS ABOUT PARENTS by Alan Katz (McElderry, 2010) is another wonderful addition to the series. Using tunes adults will find familiar (well, adults of a certain age) such as HOME ON THE RANGE and DO YOUR EARS HANG LOW? Katz describes, from a child's point of view, some of the yucky things parents do. Here is a stanza to be sung to THE FARMER IN THE DELL:
My mommy's on her cell.
My daddy's on his cell.
They don't talk to each other, but
they're always on the cell.
These books provided a lovely break from the usual Monday fare at the office.
