fractions decimals and percents

David Adler's new book deals with the unholy trinity of math: fractions, decimals, and percents. Set at a county fair, Adler uses money, costs for food, and the like to show readers all the different ways one can represent parts of a dollar (and more). My one complaint: a sign at the fair that offers 40 cents "off of" each dollar. The old grammarian just cannot seem to put down the grammar bat.
