So, I was sitting looking at some tweets from the Random House Preview going on today and feeling left out. However, the lovely UPS guy brought me a box filled with ARCs this afternoon. I pulled the following two out of the stack to read before I headed home.

BABYMOUSE BURNS RUBBER by Jenni and Matt Holm is one of my all time favorite GNs for young readers. I <3 Babymouse and her efforts to be the best she can be, at least in her inner life. Babymouse wants to enter the Mousecar competition but must build her own race car to do that. Luckily for her, she has a great friend in Wilson who helps build (and rebuild) her car. When race day arrives, Babymouse must make an important decision. Who knew you could do so much with speech bubbles and black and white with shades of pink?

The LUNCH LADY series makes me guffaw with some of the antics of Bettty and Lunch Lady. in LUNCH LADY AND THE AUTHOR VISIT VENDETTA, a visiting author refuses to sign a torn book and basically is a prima donna sort. However, his visit coincides with the mysterious disappearance of the gym teacher. Lunch Lady is on the case! New invention for this book from the clever Betty, Lunch Lady's erstwhile assistant? Hamburger ear phones.
Current Location: office but not for long
Current Mood: cheered up
