required reading

It seems that I hear the same complaint almost every semester: there is a TON of reading for the YA lit class. I'd like to get some sense of what others are requiring. I am up to 40 books, 25 outside reading where the kids get some choice (from ALA lists for instance) and 15 required for the entire class to read. I read 50-60 books when I took the class myself more than 15 years ago, so I think I am being reasoable, Could you all let me know what you require in terms of number of books? I'd also be interested in hearing about which books you DO require for the entire class to read if you do that, too.

Thanks,
