no country for old readers

In case anyone has been wondering why I have not been posting about books much this month, it is because work is interfering. Drat, those paychecks. I have come to rely on income since the outgo is consistent. Hence, I have been writing reports, developing a new doctoral program for the department and the university, teaching classes, attending meetings, and all that jazz. Oh, and I completed the draft of my professional book and have sent it off to the editor for notes. I have hopes of getting some more reading done in the next couple of weeks. I will be finishing up a couple of audiobooks and have a few trips on planes to knock out some other books, too. I just hate it when my writing seems to overshadow my reading (and vice versa).

Scout and I have a new "game" in the evening. I am generally dealing with email and final reports around his bedtime (8 pm for some reason known only to him). To remind me it is nearly time to feed him and get him to bed, he has begun to chew on the edges of the laptop. I respond by putting the laptop down and giving him his due affection for a few minutes. This action is repeated about a half dozen times between 7:30 and 8. What a cat.
