what a week

Spent most of last week shuttling between cities here in Texas. You know what that means??? Time to read at airports and in the airplanes as well. I took along PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS as there has been some buzz about it on various listservs. I thoroughly enjoyed the reading of this prequel to PETER PAN. There was Smee and Peter and Hook and how Peter came to fly and Croc and all the rest of the Lost Boys. I think this would be a great read aloud to intermediate classes (and how rare are those books nowadays?).

I also read Jacqueline Woodson's BEHIND YOU which is the sequel to IF YOU COME SOFTLY (do you see a pattern here?) and admit that I cried my way through this look at how we mourn the loss of someone we loved. It is a slim novel, great for those looking for a quick read. However, length does not mean that this book will not have an impact on readers.

I finished BECOMING NAOMI LEON by Pam Ryan, too. How much do I love this woman's writing?

Got to dash now. So many books.......................More later.
