ah, home
It was lovely to arrive at the airport and be greeted by hubby and the resident teens. After a nie night spent in my own bed, I am in the process of unpacking. Scout is loving every minute of it as he gets to play in the suitcase and chase the detritus of the mail and all kinds of other fun kitty play. Bills are paid; stuff sorted and laundry begun. So, it is now time to post about the airplane book from yesterday.

I enjoy Sonya Hartnett's writing immensely. This newest offering is no exception. Maddy returns home from her daily walk with her dog, Peake, to find a young child sitting in her living room. She is not startled by his presence. It seems somehow natural. The boy asks questions of Maddy, questions that set her off pursuing memories of her childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. The love of her life, the elusive Feather, figures prominently in her musings and reminiscences.
This fable is eloquent and beautifully wrought. The language seems lyrical in places and ordinary in others, mirroring perfectly the swing of the story arc from realistic to fantastic.
And now, here is Scout in some luggage, one of his favorite places to be.
