mysteries abound

Back from the islands, laundry done, naps coming soon. Yesterday was long since we had a 4 hour lay over in San Juan. It was a perfect time to catch up on some reading. THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY, downloaded to the lovely Kindle, was great traveling fare. Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance become a team when they pass some rather exclusive tests conducted by the mysterious Mr. Benedict. The four children have in their hands the fate of the world which right now seems to hover on the brink of something catastrophic. Mind control, family, intelligence in all forms, and a nifty mystery make this a perfect book for intermediate and middle level readers. Those who loved Blue Balliett will surely find this novel appealing. There is much action and adventure, terrific good humor, and a few twists and turns to keep readers turning the pages. The second book, THE PERILOUS JOURNEY, is already out there for those who found this as engrossing as I did.
