beans, beans, a magical fruit...



Two ants are out picking beans for dinner. Ralph warns Flora that picking 13 beans will be disastrous. She picks 13 anyway and now the trouble starts. How to get rid of the unlucky bean? Sure, you can invite friends, but there is always an extra (and therefore unlucky) bean left no matter how many are invited. The solution is ingenious. The illustrations, in bold poster colors, are dominated with greens and browns. Perspective is kept to help readers see size comparisons and there are lots of math concepts that could be shared as well.
