various and sundry
Am listening to THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME and am so engaged that I find myself sitting in the car with the engine running going nowhere. What a wonderful, unique voice Christopher has. Seeing inside the head of someone with Asberger's Syndrome is incredible. The plot has taken some interesting turns, of course, because of the unreliable narrator.
Finished two poetry collections last night. A-Maze-Me by Naomi Shihab Nye is classic Nye--small, compact, powerful poems. These are about kids on the verge--the tween population. That is the subject of my, I hope, next book as well, so I was really interested in seeing how this book compared to other collections of poems for girls. Also read a collection of concrete poems whose title escapes me right now. The one I know will be a huge hit is the story of Murray the fart. Hilarious!
