home sweet home

Back from a trip to South Carolina that combined business and pleasure. I did manage to complete Harry Potter 6 in a marathon read one evening. Once you reach a certain point in the narrative, it is impossible to halt reading until the end. I already knew Harry suffered a tremendous loss in this book and had guessed at the identity of the person murdered. However, that did not prevent me from admiring Rowling's story telling ability once again. I think this might be my favorite of all the books thus far. It sure has been the topic of discussion in the house since the books and audio arrived.

I also read in one sitting SOMETIMES A BAD BOY CAN BE GOOD FOR A GIRL by Tanya Lee Stone. Cynthia Leitich Smith, my fairy godmother and mistress of the best darned web site around, sent the book to me. She was right--I loved it! Right now, it is in the hands of my 19 year old who found the title intriguing and loved the opening chapter. This novel in verse examines how one bad boy sets his sights on winning over 3 different girls in his school. He is a charming predator, and when his first victim discovers his true purposes, she scribbles a warning to other girls in the blank pages at the end of Judy Blume's FOREVER. How much did I love this concept?!

Home now for a while and hoping for a few hours to catch up on some reading.
