drum roll, please
As readers of this blog know, I have spent the last year as a member of the inaugural ODYSSEY Committee, a joint venture of ALSC and YALSA. In just about a week, this committee will announce the first ever recipient of the Odyssey Award for distinction in audiobooks for children and young adults. All the members of this committee, under the watchful ear (?) of our Beloved Leader, Mary Burkey, have listened to countless hours of audio. Now, all the hard work is going to pay off.
What you see below is the seal for the award. I must admit to some goofy reactions when I saw it for the first time. It now makes the award seem REAL and our work more than worthwhile. I hope all of you will be tuned in to the announcements (and there will be a live online session as well as my usual blogging from the event) a week from Monday in Philadelphia.
