my darling Clementine

Greetings from Alaska where it is a cool 56 degrees with clear blue skies. Hubby took the glacier tour yesterday while I was working with a group of grad students at UAA. He had a great time and so did I with the librarians from all over Alaska. We talked books, audio, web sites, wikis, more books and so much more.

Listened to Clementine by Sarah Pennypacker on the flight up to Anchorage. She is kind of a combination of Ramona Quimby, Anastasia Krupnik, and Amber Brown. Don't think this makes Clementine a shadow of any of these formidable heroines; Clementine is her own person. And I love her. Whether she is helping her friends or pleading her case with the principal of her school, Clementine is resolved to do what she can to be the best person possible. Her father manages the apartment building and Clementine helps him out whenever she can especially a regards the great pigeon escapades. Clementine's intentions are always honorable, but the results are not always what Clementine hopes for. The story is full of warmth and humor and a perfect quick read.
