greetings from the Virgin Islands
We arrived in St Thomas yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, our luggage decided to take a later flight. It arrived this morning and now I feel better and can post more than curse words. On the flight to San Juan (first leg with luggage intact) I read CLICK a novel by ten award winning authors. Linda Sue Park opens the novel with her chapter and each successive author picks up where the previous one left off. David Almond, Nick Hornsby, Margo Lanagan, and others add their own unique touches to the story of a photographer, Gee, and his children, grandchildren, and the myriad of lives he touched. It was an absorbing read (which was good since the woman in front of me reclined her head into my lap and the guy next to me was sprawled into my personal space and there were kids everywhere). I do not want to give too much away, but I think this would be an excellent read aloud as well as a model for kids about how to construct plot and develop character in stages, so to speak. Proceeds from the book go to Amnesty International which further endeared it to me.

I plan to do some reading and listening. The bag that traveled with me intact was full of nothing but books and audio and some popcorn (dinner last night). I came prepared. I might post some photos later if the spirit moves me.

Wow, thanks for posting about Click. It's like Exquisite Corpse with awesome writers! I'm psyched to check it out and hadn't heard about it before.

Have a fun trip!
