Greetings from rainy Toronto

So for the past 3 nights the fire alarm has gone off in the hotel in the middle of the night. Apparently, someone on the 17th floor of the hotel must have a ciggy butt then and keeps triggering the smoke alarm as this is a non-smoking hotel. So, I am working on an average of 4 hours of sleep per night. Forgive me if there are typos here as my eyes are not focusing the same.

So, last night was dinner with Random House. I sat between Matt Holm (illustrious illustrator of BABYMOUSE) and Schuyler, an editor from RH (sorry not have gotten the last name). It was a blast. We talked about all things literary as well as wine, babies, school, celebrity books, creme brulee, and other topics not literary). Got back to the hotel in time for the nightly fire alarm. Got 4 hours of sleep.

Headed back to the convention center this morning to appear on a panel with Phil Bildner and Loren Long (sporting 19th century baseball outfits), Kelly Milner Halls (with her fossilized poop), Wallace Edwards, Mary Downing Hahn, and our own LJer Lisa Yee (who had a stuffed peep and I got to get a photo with it). The session went swimmingly though the audience was sparse. Since IRA is in Canada, attendance is way down (about 8-9000 was the number I heard day one).

Now I am back in the hotel waiting for the next fire alarm. I hope to have a chance to do some reading later and will post accordingly.
