Yesterday was the official opening of TLA for 2007 with a rousing session with Isabel Allende. She was funny, poignant, and all together charming. She even took questions from the audience. After she spoke, I presented my session on new YA in the same theater. It was rather spooky as I never have spoken from a stage like that before. I would say there were about 600-700 people there. The rest of the day was spent working in the booth though I made a quick tour of some of the aisles to see Adrienne Waintraub and Jeanne McDermott. Dinner last night was delicious and entertaining with Sharon Creech, Avi, Walter Dean Myers, and Sarah Weeks courtesy of HarperCollins.
Not only did I meet leapin jot from our LJ community, Sarah Weeks informaed me she has taught some of our LJ folks like Coe Booth and Jenny Han. Too cooooool.
As soon as the caffeine kicks in, I will shower and head to breakfast with FSG authors Tim Wynne Jones and Helen Frost. The first session this morning is a reader's theater with the authors from last night's dinner.
