Live from the state capitol

Here in Austin for the Texas Library Association conference this week. Read BOY PROOF tonight at the hotel. Loved it! It has been nominated for Quick Picks and I can just envision the kids (girls) who will love this quirky book with its combination of Francesca Lia Block meets Carolyn Mackler meets Janet Tashjian. I hope that I am not making this book appear at all derivative as it is not so in the least. Instead, it is a fresh voice with great fleshy characters and an all too real school setting with some smart kids, bunches of geeks, teachers who seem to be smart and cool. I think I would have loved attending school with Egg and her pals. Cannot wait to see what galleys might lurk in the exhibit hall. Will check in later in the week if I get the chance.
